May 5, 2024: Special Program at the B’nai B’rith Leadership Forum

May 5:  The SS St. Louis passengers participated in a special program at the B’nai B’rith Leadership Forum and will tell their stories of tragedy, triumph and struggle for survival, to the assembled guests.  The passengers presented a Proclamation of Remembrance and Gratitude to the representative of the State of Israel.  The Proclamation thanked the citizens of Israel and the men and women of the military service for their sacrifices, courage, devotion and dedication in safeguarding the Jewish Homeland.

May 6, 2024: Honored Guests of the US Department of State

The SS St. Louis passengers were the honored guests of the US Department of State where Special Envoy for Holocaust Issues Ellen Germain and Deputy Special Envoy Stacy Davis, received them and honored their presence on the 85th Anniversary of the SS St. Louis.

The SS St. Louis passengers presented a Proclamation of Remembrance to Special Envoys German and Davis.  Also present were representatives of the Department of State’s National Museum of American Diplomacy and the Office of the Historian.

May 6, 2024: Passengers Lunch with Ambassador Stuart Eizenstat

The SS St. Louis passengers were invited to lunch with Ambassador Stuart Eizenstat, former Deputy Treasury Secretary and former Ambassador to the European Union.

The SS St. Louis passengers presented Ambassador Eizenstat with Senate Resolution 111, passed unanimously by the US Senate in 2009, marking the 70th Anniversary of the SS St. Louis.  The document bears the signatures of 36 surviving passengers and was given to the Ambassador for his lifelong service to the Holocaust survivor community with special emphasis his Holocaust Restitution efforts which resulted in the creation of the $8 Billion Restitution Fund that came from the Governments of Austria, France, Germany and Switzerland.
